Midlothian, IL – Police Discover 17 Shell Casings in New Year’s Day Incident

Midlothian, IL – In the early hours of New Year’s Day 2024, Midlothian Police officers encountered a concerning scene at the 3600 block of 147th Street. At approximately 12:01 am, officers discovered 17 spent shell casings, evidence of multiple individuals discharging firearms into the air.

According to the Midlothian Police Department, the suspects had fled into a nearby apartment building by the time officers arrived. This discovery marked the beginning of a rigorous investigation by Midlothian detectives.

This investigation led to the identification of the alleged offenders. On January 5, with assistance from the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, a search warrant was executed at an apartment on 3662 W. 147th Street. Michael Armstrong, 27, from Midlothian, and John Perry, 30, also from Midlothian, were booked on charges.

Both individuals were charged with Felony Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. They were released in accordance with the Pretrial Fairness Act and are scheduled to appear in court.
