BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — An alleged carjacking in Chicago had an unexpected twist when the stolen vehicle was found crashed in a cornfield near Bourbonnais Parkway on I-57. Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police responded to the scene shortly before 3:30 a.m. today.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the car abandoned with signs indicating that the occupants had fled on foot. The duo, identified as Jalion L. Holden, 20, of Calumet Park, and Derrick R. Young, 19, of Matteson, were located a short distance away near Route 45/52. As officers approached the pair, one of the men reportedly attempted to evade police, leading to his being tased.

Investigative efforts revealed that the car had been carjacked just an hour earlier in Chicago. The suspects are now facing charges for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. In addition, Holden is also charged in multiple drug-related offenses and had a prior warrant from Ogle County.

The two men are currently held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center, with a bond hearing pending.
