Florida GameStop Employee Arrested in Fatal Shooting over Alleged Shoplifting

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — An alleged shoplifting incident at GameStop turned fatal Wednesday, when an employee confronted a suspected thief.

According to Pembroke Pines Police reports the incident occurred at the store at 11069 Pines Boulevard around 8:14 p.m. Store employee Derrick Guerrero, 33, reportedly spotted a man allegedly shoplifting. When the individual made a run for the store’s exit, Guerrero allegedly pulled a concealed firearm from his waistband, fired, hitting the man in the torso. 

The man, who did not reportedly threaten or show any weapon, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Guerrero, an Assistant Manager at the store, is now in custody, held on $25,000 bond.
