FORT MYERS, FL – In a bizarre discovery, a shopper at a North Fort Myers thrift store stumbled upon an actual human skull.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation after the shopper, an anthropologist, spotted the skull in the store’s Halloween section on Saturday. Authorities later confirmed the skull as human, tracing its origin to a storage unit previously bought by the store owner.

While the find is unsettling, officials have stated the case appears non-suspicious. The skull is now undergoing further analysis by the District 21 Medical Examiner’s Office.
