God allegedly spoke to David Green’s wife.

Green is the owner of Hobby Lobby stores across the United States, allegedly wrote Hobby Lobby store managers and Mardel Christian & Education, first posted on Reddit, telling them to ignore COVID-19 shutdowns by State and local authorities because “God is in control.”

Hobby Lobby’s nearest location is in Bradley. In a memo allegedly sent to Store Managers nationwide, Green writes:

“In her quiet prayer time this past week, the Lord put on Barbara’s heart three profound words to remind us that he’s in control. Guide, guard and groom.”

Green has a long history of pushing beliefs on his employees through ownership. In 2014 Hobby Lobby challenged Obamacare’s rights to have abortions under offerings through the company. Green made no promises to look after employees or their health, but said “we all may have to ‘tighten our belts’ over the near future and “God is in control.”

As of writing, there are now over 300,000 cases of COVID-19 worldwide. Hobby Lobby is based in Oklahoma, which currently has 67 COVID-19 cases and 2 deaths as of writing.

Hobby Lobby says they will increase the frequency of store cleaning, including areas ‘regularly touched’ by customers in a statement on their website.
