TINLEY PARK, Ill. — Chaos erupted at the Armed Forces Carnival in Tinley Park when around 400 teenagers descended upon the event, causing mayhem and resulting in a police officer being injured. The disruptive behavior led to the cancellation of the carnival, organized by the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce, on Sunday.
According to Tinley Park police, the trouble began after news of the gathering spread like wildfire on social media. The influx of teenagers sparked multiple fights throughout the carnival, prompting law enforcement intervention. Four juveniles involved in the altercations were swiftly apprehended, cited, and later released to their parents. Contrary to online rumors, no reports of gunfire or weapons were found at the scene.
Authorities stumbled upon an online post urging teenagers to reconvene at the carnival on Sunday evening, prompting them to take precautionary measures and shut down the event for the day. Ensuring the safety of attendees and the public remained the top priority.
The Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce has yet to disclose further information regarding the incident.
