Region 7 climbs to 9.6%, Illinois projected to surpass 400,000 COVID-19 cases by Nov 2nd

From October 1st to October 27th, IDPH reported 89,711 new cases of COVID-19, averaging 3,322 newly reported cases per day in the month. Early projections show Illinois will surpass 400,000 cases and 10,000 deaths in the pandemic just before Election Day.

BOURBONNAIS – Region 7’s climb up the top of the COVID-19 charts continued Tuesday as the region reported a rolling seven-day positivity rating of 9.6%. Tuesday marked the 20th day positivity increases across Region 7. 

The last time Region 7 saw a negative decline was October 2nd with repeated days of stagnant ratings throughout the month.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 4,000 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Illinois Tuesday, including 46 deaths. Among newly reported deaths included two residents of Will County.

Statewide positivity increased to 6.4% on Tuesday as the state is rapidly approaches another historical marker.  As of Tuesday, 382,985 COVID-19 cases had been reported in Illinois, including 9,568 deaths.

Last Saturday, Kankakee County tested 614 residents for 67 positive cases, a 10.9% daily positivity rating.  The seven-day in the County was 7.7% on Tuesday.  Neighboring Will County tested 2,280 residents last Saturday for 266 positive results, a 11.7% daily rating.  The seven-day in Will County now sits at 10% Tuesday.
