ORLAND PARK, IL – A 27-year-old resident has been charged with First Degree Murder in November 2022 shooting death.

According to the Park Forest Police Department Monday, Rick’l A. Thompson of Orland Park was charged in connection with the death of Marvin Johnson, a 28-year-old resident of Crete.

At the time of the incident, officers responded to a house party on the 0-100 block of South Arbor Trail in Park Forest and found Johnson in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving attempts, Johnson succumbed to his injuries.

An extensive investigation lead to Thompson being identified as a suspect.  Thompson was arrested and charged Friday in connection with the case.  Investigators say it’s believed the incident stemmed from a dispute almost a decade ago and was not random.

Thompson, who has prior felony convictions, is currently being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility where bond has been set at $2.5 million.

The Park Forest Police Department offers condolences to Johnson’s family and thanks all law enforcement agencies that assisted in the investigation.
