Tragedy Strikes Indiana Family as Grandfather’s Belongings Unleash Deadly Blast

LAKES OF THE FOUR SEASONS, IN – Tragedy struck the quiet community of Lakes of the Four Seasons Saturday evening sometime before 6:30pm when a grenade blast took the life of a man and left two teenagers injured. 

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the incident unfolded at a residence in the 3400 block of W. Lakeshore Drive, prompting a swift response from authorities.

According to reports, a family was sorting through their grandfather’s belongings when they stumbled upon a hand grenade. Shockingly, someone within the residence reportedly pulled the pin, resulting in a catastrophic detonation. 

The blast claimed the life of an adult male, who was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead. His two children, a 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl, suffered shrapnel wounds and were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Recognizing the potential danger, the Porter County Bomb Squad was immediately summoned to the area to ensure the safety of residents and ascertain if any other explosive devices were present. 

Meanwhile, the Lake County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives and CSI unit have initiated an investigation into the incident, working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

As of now, no further details regarding the incident have been disclosed, leaving the community in shock and awaiting further updates. 

Lake County Sheriff, Oscar Martinez Jr., expressed his condolences to the affected family and assured the public that authorities are committed to uncovering the truth behind this devastating incident.
