Kankakee, IL — Kankakee’s high school students gathered at Piggush Engineering on Saturday for the inaugural STEM Day competition. The event, aimed at fostering a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, saw students engaging in a hands-on challenge that tested their engineering mettle.

According to Neil Piggush, President of Piggush Engineering, the initiative provides a platform for students to explore engineering opportunities and conceive future careers in the field. A highlight of the day was a unique water-slide construction contest, wherein students were judged on creativity, teamwork, and efficiency in retaining water.

The collaborative spirit of the event was further underscored by the participation of Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis as an honorary judge. The winning accolade was bestowed upon Bishop McNamara High School, who received a trophy and a $1,000 contribution towards their STEM program, signifying Piggush Engineering’s commitment to educational excellence and local talent cultivation.

Mayor Curtis, representing the City of Kankakee Council, lauded Piggush Engineering’s contribution to the community and the shared vision of empowering youth through STEM education. This initiative marks a step forward in fostering a resilient and prosperous future for the city’s young minds.
