Kankakee County, IL – In an effort to promote safe disposal of medications, Kankakee County Health Department has announced the availability of free drop-off locations for unused prescriptions. These designated sites are an important community service, aiming to prevent drug misuse and protect the environment from improper disposal.

According to the Health Department, residents can bring their expired, over-the-counter, and prescription medications to various drop-off points throughout the county. Notably, liquids, illegal drugs, biohazardous materials, and sharps or needles are not accepted. Community members are encouraged to remove labels or black out personal information before depositing their items. 

The program features multiple locations, including the Aroma Park Village Hall, Bourbonnais Police Department, and the Jerome Combs Detention Center, with specified hours of operation for public convenience. This initiative underscores the county’s commitment to public health and safety.
