Kankakee, IL – In a startling weekend event, Kankakee becomes the backdrop of an investigation into a shooting that left a vehicle riddled with bullets while two individuals were inside. 

The Kankakee City Police Department reports that the incident occurred just before the clock struck 4 p.m. on Saturday, within the 500 block of N. Schuyler Ave. Responding to shots fired, officers arrived to find that the targeted vehicle had hastily departed the scene. The vehicle was later stopped by police, revealing two men who recounted the harrowing moment shots pierced through the quiet, targeting them as they sat in their car. 

The attack not only left the vehicle damaged but also a community on edge. With no suspects in sight and the victims clueless about the assailant’s identity, Kankakee Police are urgently piecing together leads. The search for the perpetrator(s) intensifies as the city calls on witnesses to step forward, hoping to shed light on this brazen act of violence.
