Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office is set to host a Project Fresh Start Expungement & Sealing Program on February 15th, with an application deadline of January 31st. This initiative, aimed at aiding individuals with past criminal records, will be held at the Morning Star Baptist Church Community Building, located at 525 N. Harrison, Kankakee, IL, from 3pm to 5pm.

According to the event organizers, applicants must pre-register for the clinic at www.k3sao.com/expunge by January 31st. Eligibility notifications will be sent prior to the event. The clinic also offers on-site employment opportunities, open to all regardless of their background.

Expungement, which completely removes traces of certain arrests or criminal records, is limited to specific cases, including those where charges were never filed, were dismissed, or involved certain misdemeanor and felony marijuana possession charges. Conversely, sealing conceals records from the public and most private employers, with eligibility for various offenses under specific criteria.

Applicants must have completed any probation, parole, or supervision for a minimum of three years, have no open cases, and provide a clean drug test for drug-related offenses. For further information or questions, contact [email protected] or call 815-295-9910.
