Rensselaer, IN – A surge in vehicle collisions involving deer along Interstate 65 has prompted local authorities to issue a safety alert.

The most recent incident occurred early this morning near mile marker 212SB, where a car was severely damaged after striking a deer, leading to significant vehicle damage and the animal’s death. This incident marks the latest in a series of accidents that have taken place over the past two weeks on this stretch of highway.

Local emergency services, including the Rensselaer Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the scene shortly before 5:05 AM. While details on injuries remain undisclosed, the frequency of these incidents has raised concerns among highway safety officials.

Authorities are urging drivers to be particularly vigilant during dawn and dusk when deer are most active. The recent spike in deer-related crashes has highlighted the need for heightened awareness and caution among motorists traveling through these high-risk areas.
