NAPERVILLE, IL – With the 2023-24 school year imminent, Naperville Police Department calls upon families and motorists to prioritize back-to-school safety.

As Naperville’s young learners prepare to return, the police stress key safety measures for a secure start. Parents are advised to reinforce children’s knowledge of their home address, phone numbers, and practice the “Say NO, GO, and TELL” rule. Walking buddies, designated Safe Walk Routes, and helmet usage during biking are vital.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead, come to full stops at signs, and drive cautiously around school zones. School speed limits of 20 mph are in effect. Patience near school buses is vital, as is eliminating distractions and adhering to school-specific traffic plans.

The Naperville Police Department dedicates its #ASaferNaper campaign to back-to-school safety, uniting the community in this cause. For more tips, visit www.naperville.il.us/asafernaper.

As the school gates reopen, Naperville unites to prioritize the safety of its future leaders. Let’s embrace these precautions and ensure a safe and successful academic journey for all.
