“We Count 2020” Census Campaign Kick-Off Event

Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk will provide an opening keynote address on the importance of getting a complete count for the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census. The event will also feature a presentation by the U.S. Census Bureau on the basics of the 2020 U.S. Census, and by the Spanish Community Center on outreach efforts to hard-to-count populations of the community.

Number of Hospitalizations Potentially Tied to Vaping Increases

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has received reports of six young people experiencing severe breathing problems after vaping, and is investigating five more individuals. These individuals experienced respiratory symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Some also experienced vomiting and diarrhea. Symptoms worsened over a period of days or weeks before admission to the hospital.

Union Hill devastated after fire

State Fire Marshall was called into Union Hill Friday afternoon after reports of a blaze that had engulfed a lumber mill and metal shop, along with the town’s Post Office.
