5th Case of Coronavirus in Illinois, patient recently traveled to Italy

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Cook County Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced a fifth Illinois resident has tested positive at the IDPH laboratory for coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The specimens have been sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for confirmatory testing. The fifth individual is a Cook County resident in his 20s who flew into Chicago O’Hare Airport earlier this month after traveling to Italy. The individual acquired the infection while in Italy and is hospitalized at Rush University Medical Center in isolation. Public health officials are identifying and contacting all close contacts.

Aubree Mann of Manteno, Illinois Named to Dean’s List at St. Louis College of Pharmacy

St. Louis – Aubree Mann, of Manteno, Illinois, has been named to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy dean’s list for the fall 2019 semester. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.

Illinois new adult-use cannabis industry generates nearly $35 million in February

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has announced preliminary numbers show statewide adult-use cannabis sales in February totaled $34,805,072.01. Dispensaries across the state sold 831,600 items over the 29-day period. Sales to Illinois residents totaled $25,615,371, while sales to out-of-state residents totaled $9,189,701.01. These figures do not include taxes collected. A portion of every cannabis sale will be reinvested in communities harmed most by the failed war on drugs.

31st annual Kankakee Community College High School Juried Art Exhibition runs till March 18th

The show runs until March 18 in the art hallway and gallery area, on the first floor of KCC’s Arts & Sciences Building. The area is open 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Fridays. From March 9 to 13, the gallery will close at 5 p.m.
