North Bend, OR – The Coos County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 53-year-old woman in connection with an embezzlement scheme targeting a local business. Brandie A. Hughson was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following an investigation into the fraudulent use of company credit cards.
According to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began on August 5, 2026, after the department received a report from business owners located on Ranch Lane, just north of North Bend. The owners alleged that Hughson, who served as their office manager, had used company credit cards to make unauthorized charges.
The reporting parties claimed that a significant sum of money had been charged to the business accounts, and they had only recently identified the suspicious transactions. During the course of the subsequent investigation, deputies interviewed the business owners, the suspect, and several other witnesses to determine the extent of the alleged financial misconduct.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, a deputy responded to Hughson's residence and placed her under arrest. She now faces charges of Aggravated Theft in the 1st Degree for embezzlement and Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. She was transported to the Coos County Jail for processing.
The Coos County Sheriff’s Office reminded the public that police action is not indicative of guilt. All persons involved in the case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
