New York City Weather Alert: Rain and Flash Flood Risk Arrive Saturday Evening as Temperatures Reach 81°

New York, New York – Rain moving into the New York City region Saturday evening could produce localized flash flooding, creating a nighttime travel concern after temperatures climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s.
According to the National Weather Service New York, rain will move from west to east during the night, with a thunderstorm or two possible. The agency says localized flash flooding could develop with the showers, making conditions worth monitoring for drivers and anyone with Saturday evening plans.
The day starts much quieter. Patchy fog is possible Saturday morning as temperatures range from the mid-50s to mid-60s before warming into the 70s. Clouds will steadily increase, with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid-70s to low 80s.
New York City is expected to reach around 81 degrees, while nearby readings shown by the weather service include 81 in Newark and White Plains, 80 at LaGuardia Airport and 78 at Kennedy Airport. Central Park’s average high for the day is 78 degrees.
East-northeast winds near 5 mph will increase to around 10 mph and shift south-southeast during the afternoon. Gusts could reach 15 mph Saturday evening.
Residents should monitor weather alerts before nighttime travel and avoid driving through flooded streets if heavier showers overwhelm drainage. Additional advisories could follow if the localized flooding threat increases as rain moves across the region overnight.
