Two Inmates Charged Following Assaults on Niagara County Staff

Lockport, NY – The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office has concluded investigations into two separate criminal incidents involving incarcerated individuals at the Niagara County Correctional Facility. The findings, released on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, detail separate assaults on corrections officers by inmates held at the facility.

According to official reports, the first incident took place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, when Martha K. Chilcote, a 58-year-old resident of Niagara Falls, allegedly spit on a corrections officer. Chilcote has been charged with harassment in the second degree and is currently scheduled to appear in the Town of Lockport Court on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

A second incident was reported on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, involving Myquaveon D. Jones, a 23-year-old male from Lockport. Authorities allege that Jones punched a corrections officer while in custody. Consequently, he has also been charged with harassment in the second degree. Jones is expected to appear in the Town of Lockport Court on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to answer for these charges.

The investigations were led by Investigator T. Caughel and Deputy A. Aquillina, with support from other personnel, including Captain J. Springer, Captain J. Wilt, Captain M. Reele, and Lieutenant C. Pino. The sheriff's office maintains that further details will be released as they become necessary or appropriate throughout the ongoing legal proceedings.
