Minnesota Weather Alert: 90% Rain Chance Hits Duluth Monday as 1-Inch Rain Risk Targets Areas South of Iron Range

Duluth, Minnesota – Drivers across northern Minnesota should prepare Monday for widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms, with a 70% to 90% chance of at least a half-inch of rain across the Northland and locally heavier totals possible through Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the highest chances for at least 1 inch of rain are focused south of the Iron Range. The agency's latest data puts Duluth's probability of receiving an inch or more at 64%, with nearby Superior at 63% and Solon Springs at 65%.
Rain chances rise rapidly Monday afternoon. Duluth goes from a 5% precipitation chance around noon to 95% by 6 p.m. Rain remains likely around midnight Monday night before dropping sharply Tuesday morning.
Communities farther south also have substantial chances of reaching the 1-inch mark, including Spooner at 66%, Pine City at 65% and Sandstone at 65%. Brainerd sits at 50%, while Grand Rapids is at 46%.
Motorists using I-35, U.S. 2 and other Northland routes should anticipate wet pavement and reduced visibility during heavier downpours. Residents should clear storm drains where safe and monitor alerts if thunderstorms intensify.
