Marianna, AR – In a distressing event that unfolded on the afternoon of Sunday, March 3, 2024, a 2-year-old child was critically injured in a shooting near an apartment complex in Marianna, Arkansas. According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP), the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Sealand Street, where an altercation between two individuals outside the complex led to the tragic shooting of the toddler.
The Marianna Police Department, seeking specialized investigative assistance, has called upon the ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to delve into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Early findings by CID agents have resulted in the identification of two suspects associated with this grave incident. A juvenile has already been taken into custody and is being held at the Lee County Jail, while authorities continue their search for a second suspect, a 22-year-old from Marianna.
The injured child was urgently transported to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where they remain in critical condition.
