Kansas City, MO – Dangerous cold will persist across Missouri through Thursday as an arctic front keeps temperatures well below freezing. A warming trend is expected this weekend, offering relief from the bitter conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could drop as low as -20°F overnight Wednesday into Thursday, posing a risk for frostbite within 30 minutes of exposure. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon Thursday for much of central and eastern Kansas and central Missouri. Residents should bundle up and limit outdoor time.
Thursday will see highs in the low teens, with wind chills keeping temperatures feeling much colder. However, by Friday, sunshine will return with highs climbing to the mid-20s. The weekend marks a significant warm-up, with Saturday reaching 37°F and Sunday soaring to near 50°F.
Drivers should remain cautious as icy patches persist on roadways, especially during early morning hours. Warmer temperatures this weekend may lead to minor flooding as snow and ice melt.
Be sure to dress warmly and check on vulnerable neighbors during this cold stretch. Warmer days are just ahead.
