Missouri Braces for Dangerous Cold Tonight as Arctic Air Pushes Wind Chills Below Zero

St. Louis, MO – A blast of arctic air will bring dangerously cold temperatures to Missouri tonight, with wind chills dropping as low as -20°F. Residents are urged to take precautions as frostbite can occur in under 30 minutes.

According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday through noon Thursday for portions of central, southwest, and west-central Illinois and east-central, northeast, and southeast Missouri. The coldest temperatures will occur overnight, with highs on Thursday struggling to reach 18°F.

Five-Day Forecast:

Thursday: Cold and sunny, high near 18°F, wind chill values as low as -10°F.

Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 28°F.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and milder, high near 39°F.

Sunday: Spring tease with sunshine and a high of 49°F.

Monday: Continued warming, high near 55°F.

With a warming trend arriving this weekend, relief is on the way. Until then, dress in layers and limit time outdoors to avoid frostbite.
