Chicago, IL – Dangerous cold will grip Chicago early next week, with wind chills plummeting to -25°F on Washington’s Birthday, making outdoor exposure hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service, Arctic air will push into the region Sunday night, sending temperatures to near 0°F by Monday morning. Gusty winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills between -15°F and -25°F. Frostbite can occur within minutes in these conditions, so residents should limit outdoor activities and bundle up if heading outside.

Saturday will bring a mix of rain and snow with a high of 34°F before temperatures start falling. Sunday will be blustery with snow showers and a high of 25°F, leading into the brutal cold on Monday. By Tuesday, temperatures will remain frigid, with highs struggling to reach the mid-teens.

Drivers should prepare for icy roads, especially on highways and bridges. Residents should check on vulnerable neighbors and keep emergency supplies ready as the extreme cold sets in.
