Pueblo, CO – A major winter storm is set to impact Colorado’s mountain regions, bringing heavy snow and strong winds. The system is expected to last through Saturday evening, with the heaviest snowfall occurring between Thursday night and Friday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, the highest snow totals are expected in the San Juan Mountains. Strong winds, gusting between 50 and 65 mph, will create whiteout conditions, making travel dangerous or impossible.

Winter storm warnings and advisories remain in effect through Saturday. Drivers should check road conditions before traveling and prepare for hazardous conditions.

Officials advise monitoring weather updates at weather.gov/pub and road conditions at cotrip.org. Travelers should avoid mountain passes if possible and carry emergency supplies.

The storm is expected to weaken by late Saturday, but additional snowfall could continue into the weekend. Residents should remain alert for changing conditions.
