Binghamton, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of central New York and northeastern Pennsylvania until 10 a.m. Thursday, with snow and ice making for hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, affected areas include Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Sullivan counties in New York, as well as Wayne and Pike counties in Pennsylvania. Additional snowfall of up to an inch and a light glaze of ice is expected, with wind gusts reaching 30 mph. Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution during the morning commute.
Meanwhile, a Lake Effect Snow Warning will take effect at 4 p.m. Thursday for Madison and Oneida counties in central New York, lasting through 1 a.m. Saturday. Forecasters predict between 6 and 12 inches of snow, with localized totals exceeding a foot in some areas. Winds could gust up to 35 mph, leading to reduced visibility and difficult travel conditions.
Residents are advised to check 511NY or 511PA for real-time road updates. Those traveling in affected areas should carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water.
