Indianapolis, IN – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of central Indiana from 1 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday, with snow and ice expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the storm will bring up to three inches of snow and as much as a quarter-inch of ice accumulation. The advisory affects multiple counties, including Marion, Tippecanoe, Madison, Hamilton, Delaware, and Vigo.

Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to become slick and hazardous. The evening commute will likely be impacted as freezing rain moves through the region. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, particularly in areas prone to ice buildup.

The Indiana Department of Transportation advises checking road conditions via 511 before traveling. Residents should take precautions when walking outdoors, as sidewalks, stairs, and driveways may be slippery.

Temperatures will remain below freezing overnight, prolonging icy conditions into early Thursday. Warmer weather is expected later in the week, helping to melt accumulated ice and snow.
