Pueblo, CO – Strong winds up to 65 mph are creating hazardous travel conditions and fire risks across southern Colorado, with impacts along I-25 in Huerfano and Las Animas counties through 5 p.m. Friday. Officials warn of possible power outages, tree damage, and difficult driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, gusty winds combined with low humidity will elevate fire risks in the region Friday. Wind speeds between 25 and 35 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph, may lead to rapid fire spread. Drivers are urged to use caution, particularly along I-25, where crosswinds could impact vehicles.

Looking ahead, Saturday will bring milder conditions, with highs near 45°F and lighter winds. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 41°F. A cooldown begins Monday, with a chance of snow by Tuesday and temperatures dipping into the 20s.

Residents should remain vigilant, secure loose objects, and avoid burning outdoors. Stay updated through the National Weather Service for further advisories.
