San Francisco, CA – A strong storm system is bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to the Bay Area, with conditions expected to worsen through Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for much of Northern California, warning that excessive rainfall could lead to urban and roadway flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the NWS, wind gusts could reach 37 mph Monday, with sustained winds between 16 to 21 mph increasing throughout the day. The storm will intensify Monday night, bringing 100% rain coverage and increasing the risk of flash flooding in Marin, Sonoma, and San Mateo counties. By Tuesday, another round of moderate to heavy rain is expected, with new precipitation amounts between three-quarters of an inch to over one inch possible.

Monday Night: Rain continues with breezy conditions. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph, with overnight lows around 51°F. Flooding may develop in poor drainage areas.

Tuesday: Periods of heavy rain, with a high near 56°F. Winds from the west-southwest at 11 mph. A flood watch remains in effect, with 90% rain coverage.

Tuesday Night: Rain tapering off after 10 p.m., with a low around 44°F. Winds shifting west at 7 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: A 40% chance of scattered showers in the morning, with partial clearing by the afternoon. High near 56°F.

Thursday: Rain likely returns, with a high near 59°F and overnight lows in the upper 40s.
