Albuquerque, NM – A winter storm will impact New Mexico on Wednesday, bringing a mix of rain and snow that could create hazardous road conditions and travel slowdowns across the state.
According to the National Weather Service, a 60% chance of rain and snow showers is expected throughout the day, with temperatures peaking near 44°F in Albuquerque. Snow accumulations will be minimal in the city but could reach 4-12 inches in the northern mountains, including Taos, Red River, and Raton Pass. Lower elevations will likely see rain transitioning into snow overnight.
Travelers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility, especially along I-25 and U.S. 64. The storm will begin clearing by Thursday, though isolated snow showers may linger in some areas through the morning.
A cold and dry pattern will settle in for the remainder of the week. Thursday’s high will reach 48°F, with mostly sunny skies by afternoon. Friday and Saturday will stay clear and cold, with highs in the 50s and overnight lows dropping into the low 20s.
Drivers are advised to check road conditions at NMroads.com or dial 511 before traveling.
