Los Angeles, CA – A stormy weekend is ahead for Los Angeles residents as rain and possible thunderstorms move into the area Sunday. Rain is expected to intensify overnight, potentially creating hazardous conditions for travelers.
According to the National Weather Service, light showers will begin tonight with an 80% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will drop to a low of 47°F, and wind speeds will range between 5 and 10 mph. By Sunday, showers and thunderstorms will dominate the forecast, with a high near 55°F. Rainfall could reach up to half an inch, with localized amounts higher in thunderstorms.
Sunday night will bring the heaviest rain, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Lows will drop to 43°F, and additional rainfall could create localized flooding in some areas. On Monday, showers will continue through the morning before gradually clearing in the afternoon, with temperatures reaching 56°F.
Looking ahead, Tuesday offers a slight chance of rain in the morning, but skies will clear for a sunny day by Wednesday, with highs near 62°F.
Drivers should be cautious on wet roads, especially along I-5 and Highway 101, where visibility and traction may be reduced. Prepare for delays and use extra time when commuting. Residents are also advised to secure outdoor items and clear storm drains in advance of heavy rainfall.
