New York, NY – Residents should prepare for scattered rain and snow showers as they head into Tuesday. While Sunday promises sunshine and mild conditions, colder temperatures and precipitation will return to the area by early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will see mostly sunny skies with a high near 41°F. Wind chill values, however, will make it feel much colder, dropping to 20°F in the morning. Winds will remain light, ranging from 11 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 28 mph. Sunday night will be clear but cold, with lows dipping to 28°F.
Sunny skies will give way to increasing clouds throughout the day, with a high near 39°F. By late afternoon, a mix of rain and snow is expected to hit the area, potentially impacting evening commutes. Winds will shift from the southwest at speeds up to 17 mph. The chance of precipitation is currently 30%, but conditions could worsen as temperatures hover near freezing Monday night.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will see additional rain and snow showers before 4 p.m., followed by partly sunny skies and highs near 41°F. The midweek forecast offers a break from precipitation, with temperatures climbing to 44°F under partly sunny skies on Wednesday.
Drivers should stay updated on road conditions, particularly near major routes like the FDR Drive and the West Side Highway, where visibility could be reduced during Monday’s rain-snow mix. Stay tuned for updated forecasts and safety tips as weather conditions evolve.
