Los Angeles, CA – A flood watch is in effect for select burn areas across Southern California from 4 p.m. Sunday until 4 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard office. Areas near recent burn scars, including Eaton, Palisades/Franklin, Bridge, and Hughes, are at the highest risk.

The NWS warns of a 10-20% chance of significant flash flooding and debris flows capable of damaging roads and structures. While damaging debris flows are not the most likely outcome, officials emphasize preparing for the worst-case scenario due to the storm’s uncertainty.

Residents in or near burn scars are advised to take precautionary measures. Safety tips include avoiding affected areas during the flood watch period, using sandbags to protect property, and stocking up on supplies in case road access becomes blocked.

The flood watch is part of a broader weather system affecting Southern California, with heavier impacts expected in vulnerable burn areas. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from local authorities and the NWS.
