Levy County, FL – Residents of Levy County should prepare for freezing temperatures as a cold weather system moves through the region early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, a freeze warning is in effect from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday for both Coastal and Inland Levy counties, including Bronson, Cedar Key, and Chiefland. Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 31 degrees, with wind chills potentially reaching 23 degrees.

The cold snap poses risks to crops, sensitive vegetation, and outdoor plumbing. Frost and freeze conditions may cause significant damage if precautions are not taken. Residents are advised to protect plants and exposed pipes, bring pets indoors, and wear warm clothing if venturing outside.

The National Weather Service also urges residents to wrap, drain, or slowly drip outdoor water lines to prevent freezing. Travelers should exercise caution and dress warmly during the advisory hours.

This unusual chill is expected to subside by mid-morning Monday, but locals are encouraged to remain vigilant overnight.
