Goodland, KS – Residents of Cheyenne and Kit Carson counties should prepare for up to three inches of snow beginning Friday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 p.m. Friday through 2 p.m. Saturday. According to the advisory, light but powdery snow will fall steadily overnight, with western areas seeing the heaviest accumulation. Blowing snow may reduce visibility and create slick road conditions, particularly on Interstate 70 and nearby highways.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead for hazardous travel during the Friday evening commute. Road conditions may remain challenging Saturday as gusts stir loose snow, causing additional visibility issues.

Officials recommend using extreme caution and avoiding unnecessary travel during the advisory period. Drivers are advised to slow down, disable cruise control, and monitor updates through the 511 road conditions hotline.

The National Weather Service emphasizes that icy roads and blowing snow can lead to delays and dangerous driving conditions. If you must travel, be prepared for sudden changes in visibility and road surfaces.

Stay informed, and travel safely during this winter weather event.
