Naperville, IL – An observant Naperville police officer stopped a suspected thief running through a retail parking lot late Thursday night.
The officer noticed the man carrying two large tote bags overflowing with items that still had tags and security sensors. The officer quickly pulled over and addressed the man, who dropped both bags and attempted to flee.
Police pursued the suspect on foot and detained him moments later. According to the Naperville Police Department, officers determined the items were recently stolen from nearby stores. The merchandise was recovered, and the suspect was charged with felony burglary and retail theft.
Authorities remind residents to report suspicious activity immediately to help prevent crime in the community.
