Paducah, KY – Rain showers are expected to develop tonight as a cold front sweeps through Kentucky, followed by dangerously cold Arctic air this weekend. Temperatures will plummet Saturday night, with wind chills dropping into the single digits Sunday through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will likely arrive late Friday evening, with totals reaching up to an inch. Saturday will remain cloudy, with temperatures falling to the low 20s by night. Residents in Paducah and along I-24 should prepare for icy conditions and the possibility of light snow late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

By Sunday, Arctic air will dominate the region, keeping daytime highs in the mid-20s and overnight lows in the single digits. Wind chill values will drop below zero during early mornings, especially in areas near Paducah. This prolonged cold spell will last through midweek, with Tuesday and Wednesday showing little improvement.

Local officials urge residents to take precautions, such as insulating outdoor pipes, ensuring pets have adequate shelter, and checking on vulnerable neighbors. Those traveling on I-24 or other major roadways should be cautious of slick conditions, especially during the overnight hours.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the bitter cold will begin to ease by Thursday. Until then, residents are encouraged to follow updates and take steps to protect themselves from the extreme cold.
