Shreveport, LA – Residents across northern Louisiana should prepare for chilly weather this New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Temperatures will drop into the mid-30s by midnight tonight as the region rings in 2025.
According to the National Weather Service, clear skies are expected area-wide, making for excellent visibility during late-night celebrations. However, the cold air will create frost potential in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day. Partygoers and early commuters are advised to dress warmly, especially with northern winds expected to maintain cooler conditions.
On New Year’s Day, temperatures will rebound slightly, reaching a high near 56 degrees under sunny skies. Calm winds will keep conditions pleasant for outdoor activities, but the cooler air will persist during the evening, with lows around 35 degrees overnight.
The extended forecast shows a mix of sunny days and chilly nights for the rest of the week. Thursday may bring a slight chance of showers in the afternoon, with a high near 53 degrees. Partly cloudy skies and a low near 38 degrees will follow Thursday night. Friday and Saturday will remain sunny with highs in the mid-50s, though nighttime temperatures will dip into the mid-30s.
Drivers traveling along I-20 or other major highways should be cautious of frost early in the mornings. Ensure windshields are clear and keep emergency kits handy.
