Philadelphia, PA – A wintry mix of freezing rain and light snow is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a glaze of ice and up to one inch of snow are likely, particularly along and northwest of I-95. This combination will make untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses dangerously slick. Commuters are advised to allow extra time for travel and proceed with caution during the morning rush.

Temperatures are forecast to rise above freezing by early afternoon, reducing the threat of icy conditions. However, local authorities are urging drivers to monitor updates and stay alert to changing weather patterns.

The extended five-day outlook for Philadelphia includes milder conditions for Christmas Day, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 38 degrees. Wednesday night will see a low of 26 degrees, followed by clear skies and highs near 37 degrees on Thursday. Temperatures will warm further heading into Friday, reaching 42 degrees with sunny skies expected.

Residents are encouraged to clear any snow or ice accumulations from driveways and sidewalks promptly to reduce risks of slips and falls. Travelers should also check weather.gov or call 511 for updated road conditions before heading out.

Stay prepared for hazardous weather, and remember to drive slowly and cautiously when roadways are slick.
