Seattle, WA – Residents in western Washington are urged to prepare for heavy rainfall and potential river flooding starting Wednesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts significant precipitation due to an atmospheric river impacting the region through Thursday.

According to the NWS, the Olympic Peninsula could see up to 7 inches of rain, with snow levels rising between 7,000 and 8,000 feet. Forecasts also predict up to 5 inches of rain for the northern and central Cascades. The Skokomish River is expected to reach moderate flood stage by Wednesday, and other rivers will remain under close monitoring.

Urban and small stream flooding are also concerns, especially Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, as rain rates intensify.

Residents should monitor updates and prepare for potential travel disruptions or localized flooding. Sandbag stations and emergency kits are recommended for at-risk areas.
