Duluth, MN – An arctic blast sweeping across Minnesota will bring frigid temperatures, lake-effect snow, and dangerous wind chills on Thursday. Gusty northwest winds combined with plummeting temperatures could create wind chill values as low as -40°F overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, heavy lake-effect snow is expected along the South Shore of Lake Superior, with accumulations of 4-6 inches possible in areas like Washburn and Bayfield. Travelers should prepare for blowing snow and reduced visibility, particularly along U.S. Highway 2 and State Highway 13.

Thursday will see highs around 4°F, but strong winds will make it feel much colder. Residents are advised to avoid extended outdoor exposure and ensure pets are indoors. The coldest temperatures will linger into Friday morning before a gradual warmup begins this weekend.

Looking ahead, Saturday could bring a slight chance of snow before temperatures climb to a milder 30°F by Sunday.
