Madison, WI – Light snow continues to affect roads across Wisconsin today, creating slick travel conditions and hazardous commutes. A burst of Arctic air arriving tonight will send wind chills plunging as low as -25° by Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph will create blowing snow and icy spots on highways, especially along I-94 and I-90. Bitter wind chills will peak overnight into Thursday morning, making frostbite possible within minutes for exposed skin. Residents are urged to bundle up and limit time outdoors.
Conditions will remain cold Thursday, with daytime highs struggling to reach double digits. By Friday night, a wintry mix is expected to move into the region, with a potential for freezing rain. This storm could create additional road hazards into Saturday morning.
Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually rebound by Sunday, with highs in the upper 30s. However, another system could bring light snow early next week, prolonging challenges for drivers and outdoor activities.
Motorists should drive cautiously on untreated roads and prepare for potentially dangerous conditions over the next several days. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and check weather updates regularly to stay informed.
