Salt Lake City, UT – Dense fog is blanketing the Salt Lake City area, significantly reducing visibility through Sunday morning. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m., impacting major roadways, including I-15 and I-80. Residents are urged to drive with caution and allow extra time for travel.
According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog and haze will linger into the afternoon, followed by a brief period of sunshine. Highs on Sunday will reach 45°F, with calm winds shifting westward at 5 mph. However, a Pacific Northwest storm system will push colder air into the region by Monday, bringing high temperatures down to the mid-30s.
Snow chances return Monday night as the storm system moves through, with light accumulations expected for northern Utah. Overnight lows will drop to 21°F, and visibility could improve as the system weakens valley inversions. By Tuesday, sunny skies will return, but daytime highs will remain below seasonal averages, reaching only 38°F.
Looking ahead, the chance for rain and snow will increase Thursday as another weather system approaches. Highs will climb to 47°F by the end of the week, with clearer skies expected by Friday.
Travelers and commuters should prepare for reduced visibility through Sunday morning and anticipate slick conditions Monday night. Stay tuned to local forecasts for updates.
