Boston, MA – A wet and wintry weather system will sweep into Massachusetts midweek, bringing a mix of rain and snow to Boston and nearby regions. Residents should prepare for potentially slick roadways and reduced visibility during the Wednesday evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service, a clipper system will move through the area late Wednesday into Thursday. Rain is expected closer to the coast, while snow may accumulate in interior locations such as Worcester and Greenfield. Temperatures will drop to the low 30s overnight, creating the potential for icy conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The precipitation will taper off early Thursday, but winds will pick up significantly. Gusts could reach 30 to 40 mph in Boston and along the coast, making travel hazardous through Thursday afternoon.

Tuesday and Wednesday will see daytime highs near 40°F, with clear skies leading up to the storm. After the system passes, temperatures will remain chilly, with lows dipping into the 20s Thursday and Friday night.

Drivers should monitor road conditions closely, especially along I-93 and I-90, and consider postponing non-essential travel Wednesday evening. Homeowners are urged to clear storm drains to prevent localized flooding from the rain-snow mix.

Stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service and local officials as the storm approaches.
