Caribou, ME – Residents should brace for a midweek snowstorm set to hit northern Maine by Wednesday night, potentially impacting travel and daily routines. A mix of light snow flurries and clear skies will give way to heavier snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

The week begins calmly, with Monday’s high reaching 30°F under mostly sunny skies. Overnight temperatures will drop to 16°F, accompanied by light winds. Tuesday will remain mostly cloudy, with a slight chance of snow showers in the afternoon as temperatures peak at 28°F.

Wednesday marks a significant shift as a strong weather system approaches. The National Weather Service forecasts snow beginning late Wednesday evening, increasing in intensity overnight into Thursday. Accumulation is expected to affect major routes, including Route 1 and Route 161, where visibility and road conditions could deteriorate rapidly.

By Thursday, snowfall is projected to continue through much of the day, with temperatures reaching 33°F. Travel delays are highly likely. Drivers are urged to check conditions and carry winter safety kits when traveling.

Looking ahead to Friday, conditions improve slightly with scattered snow showers tapering off by early morning. Temperatures, however, will plummet, with daytime highs only reaching 9°F. Residents should prepare for dangerously cold conditions over the weekend.

Local officials encourage residents to stock up on essentials, monitor weather alerts, and limit travel during peak snowfall hours. Updates on road conditions and school closures will be posted throughout the week.
