New York, NY — Residents along the I-95 corridor should prepare for heavy rain starting late Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday. The National Weather Service forecasts 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall, which may impact commutes and cause minor flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin around 10 p.m. Wednesday, intensifying overnight. Gusty winds up to 29 mph are also expected, making travel along major roadways like I-95, I-87, and the Cross Bronx Expressway potentially hazardous. Drivers are advised to reduce speeds and watch for standing water, especially during Thursday morning’s rush hour.

The storm system is part of a widespread weather pattern affecting much of the Northeast. The rainfall, though not a drought-buster, could help alleviate ongoing fire risks and dry conditions. By Thursday afternoon, showers will taper off, leaving cloudy skies and cooler temperatures around 47 degrees.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday bring additional rain, with a high of 43 degrees Friday and scattered light rain into Saturday. Sunday will offer some relief with partly cloudy skies and a high near 56 degrees, providing a window for outdoor activities.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and check local flood-prone zones for updates. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service and local alerts for real-time updates on conditions.
