Jackson, KY – Rain and fog are set to disrupt eastern Kentucky next week as a cold front sweeps through the region. Residents should prepare for wet conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, which could create hazardous travel along local highways and major routes.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, high pressure will bring mostly sunny skies through Monday. However, rain is forecast to arrive Tuesday morning, with a 60-80% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Overnight showers may persist into Wednesday, with rain totals potentially causing slick roads and reduced visibility.

Sunday will feature morning fog that clears to mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures, reaching a high of 68°F. Calm winds and dry conditions will make it a great day for outdoor activities. By Monday, cloud cover increases, signaling the arrival of wetter weather ahead.

Tuesday brings significant rain chances, with highs nearing 71°F. Commuters should anticipate delays due to ponding water and scattered storms, especially during the morning rush hour. Roads such as KY-15 and KY-30 may be impacted by localized flooding.

Rain lingers into Wednesday, with a 30-50% chance of showers and highs in the mid-60s. Fog may return during the overnight hours, further complicating travel.

Looking ahead, cooler temperatures are expected Thursday and Friday as the cold front fully passes. Rainfall tapers off, giving way to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-50s.
