Newport, NC – Coastal North Carolina residents can look forward to mostly sunny skies and temperatures ranging from 68 to 72 degrees Monday. Breezy northeast winds of 15-25 mph are expected, especially along the coast, which could impact travelers and outdoor plans. Highway 70 and other coastal roads may experience gusty conditions, making it essential for drivers to exercise caution.
According to the National Weather Service, high pressure building from the north is driving these dry, sunny conditions, with Monday expected to see clear skies inland and partly cloudy skies along the coast. These northeast winds will contribute to stronger gusts along coastal areas, reaching up to 25 mph, which could create hazardous conditions for boaters on the water.
The forecast for the week continues with mostly sunny conditions, with highs climbing to the mid-70s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds will shift slightly to come from the southeast on Tuesday, reducing gusts to 5-9 mph. Tuesday night will bring partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, dropping to the low 60s.
By Thursday, clouds will begin to move in, with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and a high near 79 degrees. The chance of rain increases slightly into Thursday evening, offering a 30% possibility of scattered showers overnight. Friday is expected to return to partly sunny skies with a high near 74, wrapping up the week on a milder note.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions, especially if planning coastal activities. Winds will remain a concern through Monday, with gusts subsiding slightly midweek.
