Orlando, FL – This weekend, visitors to Florida’s Atlantic beaches should remain cautious as weather advisories highlight life-threatening rip current risks and potential thunderstorms. On Saturday, persistent onshore winds are contributing to powerful 3-5 foot breaking waves, raising the risk of rip currents along central Florida’s coast.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Melbourne, scattered showers have already begun moving onshore, with further inland precipitation expected later today. All Atlantic beaches from Flagler to Brevard County are affected, with residents and tourists urged to stay out of the water for their safety. Boating conditions are also challenging, with seas reaching heights of 5-7 feet and small craft advisories in place for multiple zones.
Sunday’s weather looks brighter with clearer skies and highs reaching 83°F, accompanied by northeast winds at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. However, the hazardous rip current threat persists. Those who find themselves caught in rip currents are advised not to fight against them but to swim parallel to the shore until free and then head to safety.
The extended forecast for Orlando includes partly sunny conditions on Monday with a high of 85°F, and a slight chance of showers re-emerging by midweek. Staying informed and taking necessary precautions will be key this weekend, especially for beachgoers and local mariners.
